The tab

The bill grows every day.

In the year to October 1, 2026, the debt grew by $2.40 trillion. Split across everyone in the country, that is $7,012 each, or about $19 a day.

Nobody mails you this bill. It is in all our names anyway, and the interest on it is paid every month. We think a bill this size should at least come with receipts.

How it pays

Three articles. All of them public.

No promises about price. Fees come in onchain, go out to the Treasury, and the receipt comes back here for anyone to check.

  1. Article I

    The fee.

Every buy and sell of $WTP on Pons pays a creator fee, collected onchain into a public wallet anyone can watch. The share that goes to the debt is posted with the token details below.

  2. Article II

    The payment.

The fees are claimed, turned into dollars and paid to the U.S. Treasury through Gifts to Reduce the Public Debt on Pay.gov, the Treasury's own program. Any American can use it.

  3. Article III

    The receipt.

Each payment posts on this page with its date, the amount, the Pay.gov tracking ID, the receipt and the onchain fee claim it came from. The totals add themselves up.

Plainly put.

Buying $WTP is not a donation, and it is not tax deductible. You are buying a token. The payments to the Treasury come out of trading fees, and the project makes them.

A token can lose value, including all of it. Nobody here is promising a return or a price. Payments start after launch, and you will see each one on this page.

The receipts

Every payment, on the record.

One line per payment to the U.S. Treasury. If it is not on this list, it did not happen.

Questions

Straight answers.

If something here is unclear, it is our job to fix it, not yours to guess.

Is this a government program?

No. We The Payers is an independent community project. It is not run, backed or endorsed by the U.S. government or the U.S. Department of the Treasury. We use the Treasury's public gift program on Pay.gov, the same one any citizen can use.

Is buying $WTP a donation?

No. Buying $WTP is buying a token. It is not a donation, it is not a gift to the government, and it is not tax deductible. The payments to the Treasury come out of trading fees, and the project makes them.

Where does the money go?

To the U.S. Treasury, through Gifts to Reduce the Public Debt on Pay.gov. The Treasury accepts these gifts under 31 U.S.C. 3113 and reports the monthly total on Fiscal Data.

How do I check a payment?

Every row in the receipts table carries the date, the amount, the Pay.gov tracking ID, the receipt and a link to the onchain fee claim the money came from. The fee wallet is public, so you can follow the money in and out.

How is my share worked out?

We take the total public debt outstanding from the Treasury's Debt to the Penny data, which updates each business day, and divide it by 341,784,857 people, the Census Bureau's estimate of the U.S. population on July 1, 2025. Your household's share is that figure times the people in your home. The average household figure divides the same debt by 134,790,000 households, from the Census Bureau's 2025 Current Population Survey.

Will this pay off the national debt?

No, and anyone who tells you a token will is selling something. The debt is measured in trillions. What we can do is put real payments against it, every one of them on the record, and keep the bill in front of the people who pay it.

Can $WTP lose value?

Yes. Like any token it can fall in price or go to zero. Only buy what you can afford to lose. Nothing on this site is investment advice.
